Arriving

The Creation

The finish line outstretched in front of you
All but 20 meters to go
The taste of victory in your mouth, in your lungs
5 more exhales to go…

The fumbling of your hands
As you open the letter that determines
The fate, of your college to be
4 more exhales to go…

The sigh of relief as the clock reads 4:59:37 PM
The joy of your workweek coming to an end
The long holiday weekend awaits you…
3 more exhales to go…

The smile on your face as you sign your name
On the solid line
Of your first ever house, your first ever home…
2 more exhales to go…

The rush that you feel as you get down on one knee
Pull out the ring, look into her eyes –
Moments before she says yes to forever
1 more exhale to go…

Take that breath.
Close that gap.
BE the bridge.

You are here.
You are whole.
You, my dear,
Have arrived.

(my personal experience – how the inspiration came about)

(~2 weeks into my Bali trip)…I had a busy week at work, and ended my day on November 24 with a sigh. I got ready for an afternoon lunch date, which lasted long enough that by the time I got home I was completely exhausted. The evening was still in full swing, so I decided to go for a swim in the pool to relax and ease into the weekend.

The sky was full of pinks and purples – in fact – there was no blue in sight. The pool was pleasantly warm and quiet, and I turned and looked up at the sky. The leaves of palm trees sprinkled my view with tropical delight, music was playing in the distance, and a nearly full moon was shining bright, beaming its evening glow.

I floated there, looking up at the sky in awe, when all of a sudden, it came: this is it…this is exactly where I’m meant to be.

I was washed with these feelings that completely consumed my entire being; it was far beyond the feeling of having “made it” or having “accomplished the thing”. It was the moment of

arriving
in complete totality
in every aspect of who I was.

Pure presence….
Pure awareness…

There was no where else for me to be on the entire planet but exactly where I was, doing exactly what I was doing, being exactly who I was being. A simple moment, perhaps, but one of the most profound experiences I’d ever had.

I had finally arrived.
